Sharpen Your Memory

mindDabble.com has a lot of edutainment games. These games are fun to play and it builds ones cognitive skill as well. I took the opportunity to play Patterns, Monkey Face, Pairs, Word Bubbles, and Word Board.

Patterns: This is a fun game that involves exercising spatial recall by remembering patterns of animated blocks. The player is first presented with a block of animated tiles before they are overturned. The player will then be asked to recreate the pattern and receive points each time they get it right.

Monkey Face: The game allows a player to exercise his/her sequential recall by mimicking the monkey’s movement. The player gain points by clicking the different parts of the monkey’s face in the correct order to recreate his movements. This is a good educational game.

Pairs: This is another interesting game @ mindDabble.com. It strengthens the player’s visual recall by matching the pairs of colored peals. A very good game for elementary school kids to play.

Word Board: The player can train his/her memory through semantic recall in this word ordering game. A list of words will appear at a time. Player will have to remember as much word as he/she can and then drag the words into the list in the correct order. A lot of fun and educative.

Word Bubble: In this game the player strengthens his/her semantic recall by clicking the words he/she remember seeing. Unlike the board game, words will float up on the screen randomly and then disappear. The player will click any word that appears a second time. Player gets points by clicking on the correct word.

The Akinator is a fun game that tries to guess what character/personality you are thinking about, when you answer some few questions. It does well with characters/personalities from USA but not so well with personalities from Africa. For example it couldn’t guess the current president of Ghana after several attempts.

However, it guessed Barrack Obama and all the president of the United States right at the first attempt. All the TV characters were also guessed right by the genius–the Great Akinator. I love this game.

Try stumping the Great Arkinator. PLAY

Multiplication Game for Fun

I have been looking at this Multiplication Game from the AcademicSkillBuilders website for a while. I think it is a good game which builds on the multiplication skills of students while they have fun at the same time. This is definitely a game that is edutainment for kids who love race cars. I have a YouTube link to my description of the game. Click to watch

I must admit that this multiplication games is full of fun for even adults. I think it can help keep adults brain active since it involves multiple players and the best time of the day is displayed as well. This will challenge any adult to try and beat the best time of the day The focus of the games in my view is three folds: 1) increase ones speed in multiplication, 2) Get the right responses to the multiplication questions, and  3) have fun whiles learning.

The site has other Games for division, addition, subtraction, Geography and others.
